The RMT union - representing guards on trains - is taking another two days strike action next week - on Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 5th of October. They have asked Heeley LP to help them on these strike days by leafleting the passengers coming out of/going into the railway station during the rush hours. Some RMT members will be on their picket lines, on Cross Turner St (where the taxis queue) - but they'd like us to leaflet passengers with them. Remember, this is a crucial issues about safety on trains. Drivers can't help passengers, gave them support if something kicks off, they can't look after passengers in an incident or crash..... Just as Grenfell is a terrible monument to the 'hollowing out of the state', so is the crazy idea of having no trained guards on trains. Some rail companies have agreements with the guards' union to maintain the jobs - but Northern, Merseyrail and Southern are determined. And underneath it, these companies want to break the strength of a union that looks after its members and isn't afraid to take action.
Tuesday and Thursday outside Midland station. From 8-9am; and from 4.30-5.30pm. Look for the Heeley Labour banner. Meet the public, defend the guards and defend the RMT.
