Louise made clear in her acceptance speech the residents of Sheffield Heeley and the people of Sheffield will always be her number one priority.
In September 2015 Louise was promoted to the position of Shadow Minister for Civil Service and Digital Reform in the Cabinet Office by the Leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn. The brief covers civil service terms and conditions, Government procurement, open government and Freedom of Information and the digitisation and digital transformation of public services.
Starting her working life in Sheffield in a job at Meadowhall and as a local call centre worker, she went on to study at the University of Nottingham where she worked for the Local Authority's Youth Service, helping train youth workers on issues such as teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol misuse and child protection.

Before standing in the 2015 General Election, Louise continued this work at Aviva where she was employed as a Corporate Governance Policy Manager.
A proud trade unionist, Louise has also served as a shop steward for the Unite Union representing workers where they faced discrimination, harassment, the threat of redundancy or unfair dismissal and organising to help bring about change in the workplace.
