Our MP

Louise was elected in May 2015 as the Member of Parliament for Sheffield Heeley. She was born and brought up on Abbeydale Road and now lives in Norfolk Park with her partner Liam and her dog Harry.

Louise made clear in her acceptance speech the residents of Sheffield Heeley and the people of Sheffield will always be her number one priority.
Since then, she has raised many issues affecting our local area and  held the government to account on everything from teacher recruitment and retention, mental health services, frackingTax Credits and the dangers to our economy as the Government piles debt onto individuals in the name of austerity. She will continue to champion the issues which matter to her constituents more of which you can find here and if you need any advice and support Louise holds regular advice surgeries around the constituency where you can raise any issues.

In September 2015 Louise was promoted to the position of Shadow Minister for Civil Service and Digital Reform in the Cabinet Office by the Leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn. The brief covers civil service terms and conditions, Government procurement, open government and Freedom of Information and the digitisation and digital transformation of public services.

Starting her working life in Sheffield in a job at Meadowhall and as a local call centre worker, she went on to study at the University of Nottingham where she worked for the Local Authority's Youth Service, helping train youth workers on issues such as teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol misuse and child protection.

On graduating, Louise moved to London and worked in Parliament where she helped establish the All Party Parliamentary Group on International Corporate Responsibility, working with businesses and NGOs to make business more accountable, transparent and add value to the communities they operate in. Before standing in the 2015 General Election, Louise continued this work at Aviva where she was employed as a Corporate Governance Policy Manager.

A proud trade unionist, Louise has also served as a shop steward for the Unite Union representing workers where they faced discrimination, harassment, the threat of redundancy or unfair dismissal and organising to help bring about change in the workplace.  Louise has also volunteered as a Special Constable in the Metropolitan Police.
