National Day of Action for Fast Food Workers - 4 September

Gleadless Valley branch of Heeley CLP has pledged support for the National Day of Action for Fast Food Workers on Monday 4 September. Alongside the Sheffield Needs a Pay Rise campaign we will be organising solidarity action at the McDonalds branch on Archer Road, which is in the Heeley constituency.

McDonald’s workers balloted at Crayford (south east London) and Cambridge stores have voted by an incredible 95.7 percent for strike action over a number of grievances at the two workplaces, and the workers are also fighting for £10 an hour minimum wage, union recognition, and for the twice promised agreement on scrapping zero hours contracts to be implemented.

Their BFAWU bakers’ union has now named Monday 4 September as the first strike day and have called for solidarity action at McDonald's branches throughout the country.

You can support this day of action with Gleadless Valley branch members by coming along, giving out leaflets, holding a placard or talking to McDonald's staff and customers. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

We will have a lunchtime and a tea time presence so please meet at the constituency office at 11.30am and 5pm to join the actions or if you want to meet us there please get in touch with time(s) you are available around lunchtime and tea time.
